Keeping your EC Credit Control Web Portal Secure

EC Credit Control takes the responsibility of securing your financial data very seriously and that’s why we have recently introduced a new two-factor authentication (2FA) system to access the web portal.

This article is to let you know about the changes, how the system works and where to get help if you need it.

We will be progressively rolling this 2FA system out to all web portal clients over the next month.

What do you need to do

Next time you login to the web portal, you will see a two-factor verification screen that asks you to enter an access code.

This temporary 6-digit access code will be automatically emailed to your registered email address each time you login.

The access code is valid for 30 minutes, after which you will need to hit the link to resend the code.

If you do not receive the email with your temporary access code, check your email junk folder.

Enter the 6-digit code into the two-factor verification screen where it says access code and hit login.

You can also select the checkbox to “Remember me for 30 days” to avoid having to enter an access code each time you log in for 30 days, after which you will need to enter a new temporary access code.

NOTE: We will never ask you for your temporary access code in any other way, please do not share it with anyone.

What is 2FA and why has EC Credit Control made this change?

2FA is one of the most effective ways to protect your data from cyberattacks.

2FA is a cybersecurity mechanism that requires a user to verify their identity by providing more than just a single username and password, such as verification via an access code.

Research has found that using 2FA can reduce the risk of an account being compromised by more than 99.9%.

Can I opt out of the 2FA system?

No, we see this as being a necessary system to ensure the security of your sensitive financial data, so this will be mandatory for all web portal accounts.
